Allergy Aware in Alberta

Steve Tymko

Steve Tymko is a Division Principal with Alberta’s Elk Island Catholic School (EICS) Division and has been a school administrator for the past 8 years. As an educator and someone who manages food allergy in his own family, Steve understands the importance of anaphylaxis education.

At EICS, school personnel take the online Anaphylaxis in Schools course offered at AllergyAware.ca for their annual training. Steve describes the course as informative, thorough, and interactive. He also shared that the practice scenarios provide helpful real-life examples. Even though he is knowledgeable about food allergy and anaphylaxis, he continues to learn from the course and encourages others to do the same.

We acknowledge the efforts of Steve Tymko, Superintendent Michael Hauptman and the Elk Island Catholic School Division for making training and allergy aware schools a priority to help safeguard students at risk for anaphylaxis.
